As the Lead Designer for the new Tubi Sports hub, I was instrumental in Tubi's substantial expansion into sports content. Tubi is making a major investment in sports by partnering with major leagues such as the NBA G-League, WNBA, and College Soccer to diversify and enhance its offerings.

THE PROBLEM
The current navigation system and homegrid layout are not optimized for the introduction of a dedicated sports section. Users need a seamless way to discover and engage with sports content within the existing Tubi platform. The existing design does not adequately support the promotion and visibility of specialized sports content.

Homegrid Discovery

Pinning sports content on the homegrid was crucial for the project. By prominently featuring sports, the content becomes immediately visible, driving attention and interest.

This dedicated section encourages deeper user engagement, showcases Tubi’s sports partnerships (NBA G-League, WNBA, College Soccer), and attracts fans. As a result, users can easily discover new sports content, leading to higher engagement and satisfaction.

Onboarding & Personalization

I introduced an onboarding page where users can select their favorite sports, allowing for personalized content tailored to individual preferences. This feature enhances user engagement and satisfaction by making it easier for users to discover and enjoy sports content they love.

This personalized approach complements the prominently featured sports on the homegrid, making Tubi more engaging for sports enthusiasts.

Sports Hub

The new Sports Hub page is the central destination for all sports content on Tubi, aggregating content from our sports partnerships (NBA G-League, WNBA, College Soccer). It features live events, highlights, and exclusive content. Users can follow or unfollow specific sports and teams, making the experience more tailored to their interests and ensuring they easily find and engage with a wide array of sports content.


Mobile Focus & Short-form Content

Recognizing the growing importance of mobile usage, we prioritized mobile to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for users on the go. Our approach involved enhancing navigation, and ensuring quick access to content. Additionally, we introduced a new feature that utilizes our short-form content, including recaps and highlights, making it easy for users to catch up on sports action quickly and conveniently. This focus on mobile and short-form content ensures that users have a comprehensive and enjoyable sports experience, regardless of the device they use.
